Sustainable by design
Labrador Tower integrates Grade A offices, retail, and operational facilities for SP Group, including what is likely Southeast Asia’s largest underground substation. Adjacent to a major leisure park by NParks, the tower connects to heritage trails, cycling routes and MRT access. Its interlocking architectural volumes extend the nearby hills into the built environment, seamlessly merging infrastructure with landscape. Certified Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy, it reflects Singapore’s green ambitions – offering efficient, wellness-focused spaces for work and community life. To meet high daytime cooling needs, the building uses an underground thermal-energy storage system. Cold water is produced off-peak and stored for use during the day – supporting a chilled beam air-conditioning system that achieves up to 50% energy savings. This strategy allows efficient climate control without peak-hour strain.
Labrador Tower’s systems include hybrid active chilled beams, rooftop solar panels and microclimate controls – the collaboration between SJ Group and SP Group has been instrumental in shaping Labrador Tower’s sustainability goals. SJ Group led engineering, civil, and structural works alongside B+H (Design Lead), Grant Associates (Landscape) and SAA Architects (Executive Architect).
