SJ Group debuts in Fortune Southeast Asia 500 2025

Published June 17, 2025

SJ Group has been ranked #192 in the 2025 Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list, ranked by revenue for the 2024 fiscal year.

This recognition comes ahead of SJ Group’s 10th anniversary on 22 June 2025 — marking ten years since the Singapore-headquartered company was established and made its first acquisition, catalysing its growth into a global group.

With its origins in Singapore’s housing and industrialisation agencies, SJ Group has played a pivotal role in shaping the city-state’s urban landscape for more than five decades. Surbana, then part of the Housing Development Board, delivered liveable homes to a rapidly expanding population, while Jurong International was powering the country’s industrialisation. The two merged in 2015 to form Surbana Jurong, and the Group has since bolstered its capabilities and global reach through the strategic acquisition of specialist firms — some with legacies of more than 75 years — in planning, architecture, engineering, advisory and management.

Today, SJ Group stands among the world’s top multidisciplinary consultancies. With its ten member brands, SJ Group is delivering integrated urban, infrastructure and managed services solutions globally. The firm currently ranks 23rd in Engineering News-Record’s Top 225 International Design Firms in 2024 and 17th in World Architecture 100 2025.

SJ Group is shaping some of the world’s most ambitious urban development and infrastructure projects. From renewable energy solutions in Australia and advanced aviation hubs in Saudi Arabia, to resilient masterplans in Rwanda and integrated healthcare spaces in Singapore, each project by SJ Group is defined by its lasting positive impact on communities and the planet.

Sean Chiao, Group CEO, SJ Group:

“For over seven decades, SJ Group has helped shape cities and communities, bringing thoughtful design to buildings and infrastructure, and smart technology into the way people live and work. With 16,000 specialists in more than 40 countries, we’re proud to be a trusted and pragmatic ally for the built environment. As we mark our tenth anniversary as OneSJ, this recognition is about where we’re going. We’re here to shape better industries, support stronger communities, and regenerate our environment. That’s Real impact, made together.”

The Fortune Southeast Asia 500 is an annual ranking launched in 2024. It is published under the Fortune 500 franchise, which spans the Fortune 500 Global, Fortune 500 Europe, and Fortune China 500, recognising the world’s largest companies. Fortune says that its focus on Southeast Asia comes as the region emerges as a resilient growth engine for the global economy, playing an increasingly important role in global supply chains, capturing manufacturing capacity shifting from China due to heightened tariffs and trade tensions.
