Designing enduring destinations

Luxury room inside Karl Lagerfeld hotel

Every detail of the hotel is infused with Lagerfeld’s visual language – black lacquer finishes, silk wallpaper, sculptural staircases and curated libraries of vintage books. Highlights include the striking mosaic-lined spa, a tea lounge inspired by Chinese symmetry and a grand lobby that frames views like cinematic vignettes. Each element is crafted to immerse guests in a world where fashion, culture and storytelling intersect.

The CHIL team integrated bold contrasts – order and rebellion, intimacy and drama – into every space. Design cues were drawn from both haute couture and heritage architecture, demanding meticulous attention to form, proportion and atmosphere. Balancing spectacle with functionality, the team ensured that the guest experience remained intuitive, comfortable and cohesive.

The hotel features a full-scale replica of Lagerfeld’s personal atelier, complete with over 4,000 books and iconic design objects. The retractable elements, custom chandeliers and spa detailing – including a circular retail space referencing his round sunglasses – exemplify precision-led creativity. Advanced coordination across disciplines allowed bespoke fittings, layered textures and complex finishes to be executed with accuracy and minimal compromise.
